Too much heat and not enough privacy — this unusual window needed two different solutions.

We fitted made-to-measure shutters across the lower windows of this Dublin living room, directly beneath the lean-to roof windows. The white shutters provide the privacy the room was missing, particularly around the seating area, while their adjustable louvres allow the homeowners to control the daylight without closing off the room completely. They also give the large expanse of glass a beautifully finished, more comfortable feel.

We fitted pleated roof blinds to help manage the strong overhead sunlight and reduce the build-up of heat in the room. Together, the pleated blinds and shutters provide shading exactly where it is needed: the roof blinds tackle the direct heat and glare from above, while the shutters add privacy. Unusual windows do not always need one single type of blind; sometimes, combining two made-to-measure solutions produces the most practical and best result.
